I just purchased a fuel saving device which is a throttle body spacer. I have seen increased fuel efficiency and there are no outlandish claims from the maker.

I own an 08 Prius. Summer milage is 52 mpg in Montana, USA. Winter milage is 44 MPG. Highway or city milage doesn't seem to vary much.

The last six tanks with my 2010 VW Golf Wagon TDI (manual) have averaged out to 6.3L/100km (~37US MPG). That is with 90% highway kms. It probably idles for 30 mins/tank. Still only 12,000 kms on it though, hopefully the fuel economy will improve.

I can't comment with real facts yet as I just bought a 2010 Golf TDI for my wife which we hope to take possession of next week (week of Dec 14th). I am encouraged by what I am seeing posted here as I drive a Dodge Durango V8, so definitely looking forward to using our Golf for those long trips
