2022 BWT Alpine F1 Team A522
Sponsor and personnel changes—and secondary livery—highlight today’s launch of the Alpine A522
“New year, new look, new me.” By adding the German company BWT—Best Water Technology, if you’ve ever been too afraid to ask—as its title sponsor, Alpine F1 Team gets a chance to revamp its look for the 2022 season. Twice.
For the first two races, the BWT Alpine F1 Team A522 will run entirely in pink, thereafter reverting to a striking blue-and-pink look.
Not since the years of tobacco money-funded BAR has a team truly attempted a split livery. Sad? Not here.
“…BWT Alpine F1 Team also presented a ‘flipped’ livery with pink becoming the most prominent colour. This unique livery will be used for the first two races of the season, highlighting the new partnership with title partner BWT.”

While BAR never succeeded in running a two-car team, each in its own colours—or splitting its livery down the middle—this approach makes more sense and will be much less confusing for viewers. If it takes off, expect to see these special liveries explode in popularity in the coming years.
If online gaming is anything to go by, the appetite for seeing a Formula 1 car with different paint schemes is endless. As it should be.
