Daewoo Flex
Car of the Day #313: 2002 Daewoo Flex – Before(d)

Is it all Daewoo’s fault?
The dashboard, jammed with screens. The yoke wheel. And enough silver plastic to cover the walls of The Derek Zoolander Center for Kids Who Can't Read Good and Who Wanna Learn to Do Other Stuff Good Too.
I’m a forgiving person, and all is forgiven when you check out the interior of this concept MPV — reconfigurable industrial leather bench seating, paired with a wooden plank floor. Exactly the kind of interior you’d expect from a concept called ‘Flex’.

Then, some months later, it was renamed the Universal.
According to darewnoo.pl, the non-functioning prototype Flex was last seen in 2011, located in Korea, in a dusty but complete state — no word on its condition today.

While its rear-opening doors may have wow’d crowds at the 2002 Seoul Motor Show, with Daewoo still owned by General Motors, with its entire range soon to be rebadged Chevrolet in markets where Daewoo had existed.
Sadly, this is all I’ve been able to find on the Daewoo Flex, so if you’ve been hoarding old sketches and brochures and digital files in a shoebox somewhere, please get in touch with me and we’ll add more to this forgotten MPV’s history.
