Car of the Day #302: 1987 Dodge Daytona 199x – Sample sized

I realize this may be confusing.
Alarming, even.

See, Stellantis executives? Dodge has a history of making small sporty coupes (albeit one at a time, keeping the good ones for itself.)
In 1987, Dodge showed this canary yellow concept coupe under the ‘Daytona’ moniker. To me, it appears a little bit Stealth, a little bit Daytona, even a tad bit Mitsubishi.


I do know that it originated in Chrysler design studios as part of a coupe program called ‘Pacifica’ that, in a way, branched off to create the Eclipse.
Today, I uncovered a third angle for the elusive Dodge 199x concept car, at the 1987 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS):
