Car of the Day #13: Jetcar 2.5
A short one today because it’s my birthday — and poring over Jetcar details is as extreme as my party gets.
When researching to see if my original story on the Jetcar 2.5 from 10 years ago was still accurate, I happened upon three crucial, undeniably lovely facts:
- The Jetcar website is still online.
- The configuration tool still works.
- I sent an email and it didn’t bounce.
Let’s consider this story a work in progress, and a new goal of mine for 2024: a Car of the Day reader test driving a Jetcar 2.5 in 2024. Deal? Let’s make this happen!
What is a Jetcar? smart fortwo diesel components repackaged in a highly aerodynamic shape. Efficiency is claimed to be 2.5 L/100 km against a top speed of 160 km/h — what’s not to like?
If a few of you check out the website, jetcar.de, maybe they’ll notice a traffic spike, see this article, and we’ll soon have a deeper dive on this weird car that’s haunted me for 10 years. I must know more.
