VAZ-1801
Car of the Day #171: 1980 VAZ-1801 – Genuine pony
This will be the bare minimum of a story, in the spirit of the bare minimum VAZ-1801.
Why?
Just look at it.
It was designed as a stadium and infrastructure runabout, so it’s electric, with two nickel-zinc batteries, and an abundance of top speed: 40 km/h (25 mph).
The batteries alone weighed 360 kg (795 lbs), but this puppy was built for cruising, and had an incredible 160 km (100 mile) range.
Where would you have seen it?
